QATARGAS SUPPORTS QATAR GOLF ASSOCIATION’S JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM

QATARGAS SUPPORTS QATAR GOLF ASSOCIATION’S JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM

Doha - Qatar - 28 February 2016

Qatargas has announced its support for the Junior Golf Program run by the Qatar Golf Association (QGA) for the sixth season in a row.

Qatargas’ support for the program is aimed at helping to increase the popularity of the game of golf in Qatar, especially amongst the younger generation.  Promoting and supporting sporting activities is an important element of Qatargas’ corporate social responsibility program. In recent years, the company has been actively supporting a number of evolving sports activities in Qatar that include chess, badminton and ice-hockey in a bid to nurture young talents and contribute to popularizing these games in the local community.

Azzam Abdul Aziz Al Mannai, Public Relations Manager, Qatargas, said:

“We are very pleased to continue our support for the Qatar Golf Association’s Junior Golf Program as part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives in the field of sport.  We believe that our support will help to make the game of golf even more popular amongst the younger generation in Qatar.  Qatargas’ support for various sporting activities is aligned with the objectives of the Human Development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Mr. Mohammed Faisal Al-Naimi the Executive Director of Qatar Golf Association said:

“We thank Qatargas for its ongoing support for the Qatar Golf Association’s Junior Golf Programme. This is the sixth season in a row.  The objective of the programme is to improve the standard of golf among the juniors with various teaching programs and weekly competitions throughout each golf season.  Qatargas’ support will definitely help our objective at the Qatar Golf Association to see a whole new team of young Qatari golfers trained and equipped for future golf in Qatar.”

The Golf Association in cooperation with Doha Golf Club organizes weekly golf competitions throughout the year, except during the summer period.   QGA Junior Qatari players as well as junior members of the Doha Golf Club participate in these events.  Qatar Golf Association also held a Training Camp in France for two weeks as a support for the Junior Team.

As part of the programme that runs from September 2015 to May 2016, young boys and girls will benefit from golf education, etiquette and training in addition to weekly golf events. The objective of the QGA is to build new talented young Qatari golfers to become national team players for the future of golf in Qatar.  Qatargas believes its support will help to improve the standard of golf among the juniors.
